When we think of Jesus as our teacher, we shouldn't just picture Him as someone who is quietly dropping bits of spiritual wisdom into our minds. He does impart wisdom, but it goes far beyond that.
As our Teacher, Jesus is the one who shapes and molds us completely—sometimes even breaking us down and remaking us in ways that are painful but necessary.
He teaches us the hard realities of temptation, sin, death, and hell, while also revealing the beauty of love, the Spirit, life, atonement, and heaven.
Christ's classroom is more than a space for Bible study or theological lectures; it’s a gym for discipline, a war room for spiritual battles, a hospital for healing, and a kitchen where we clean up the messes we’ve made.
We learn self-control.
We are trained in spiritual warfare.
We are broken apart and rebuilt.
Jesus instructs us to carry our cross and follow Him, and also to help others with theirs. We learn both compassion and tough love. He teaches us how to pray, how to hope, how to confess, and ultimately, how to live and how to die.
Jesus as our Teacher covers all these areas.
What an incredible teacher we have in Him. Never underestimate the joy, the struggle, the hope, and the salvation that come with being His students.
